With the unseasonably warm weather we were treated to in February followed by a windy and wet March, spring seems to have sprung early this year and mother nature seems a little confused. But with Eater upon us and the May bank holidays to look forward to it’s the perfect time to invite spring into your home. Through the use of decorative accessories and soft furnishings, add a little flare to your home with our top five home styling tips:
If you are a keen follower of our journal you will have read our thoughts on the use of faux flowers and plants in home styling. We think they are a fabulous idea, especially if you aren’t the green fingered type or if you have a spot away from a window that you would like to place some foliage. However, there is something about a fresh bunch of flowers to brighten up a room, with the added bonus of the perfume they give off. Decorative accessories such as a beautiful vase can be a real statement on a console table, kitchen island or dining table, but why not go for all three?
If your windows look out on to a garden, rolling hills or fields why not bring some of those tones inside during the spring months? A dining table centrepiece can be easily arranged with some foliage, blossoms, candles and decorative accessories added for extra interest. This is the perfect arrangement for an Easter family get together, you could even hide a few eggs in there! We work closely with a florist who is an expert at creating seasonal bespoke floral designs, and we would be happy to assist you with this should you need us to.
Perhaps in the winter months you like your home to feel cosy, warm and comforting. Darker tons and thick faux furs are fantastic ways to create this style, however the spring months call for a lighter feeling overall. Try putting away the throws, blankets and instead embrace the opportunity to add some brighter soft furnishings with different patterned or coloured cushions for the spring and summer seasons. Even with a neutral scheme a little goes a long way and a few additions on a sofa can make all the difference.
Coffee Table Settings
If, like us, you like your coffee table to sit centre stage with accessories styled to perfection, you may have enjoyed our previous post about home styling. In the spring your careful arrangement can be altered to suit the season. If you are a coffee table book hoarder, then why not open a page on a bright image and display this alongside your other possessions? This is a brilliant way to add colour too, without the worry of overdoing it.
Spring Weight Window Dressings
It has been thought of as rather old fashioned to have different curtains to suit the seasons. However, sometimes this change of fabrics may be all that’s needed to brighten things up, without having to commit to it all year round. I mentioned before about creating a winter hide away using soft furnishings with darker tones and heavy fabrics but in the spring and summer months this does not always suit. Why not consider changing your curtains for lighter fabrics that will compliment the season during the warmer months? You can look forward to creating your winter den again when the nights draw in.
